May!?!

So time flies... Just a regular update this time. I wanted to give a true account of Sunday to look back and laugh at, someday: Will graduated, finished just before 5pm, then I swung by his parents' place for a min before heading to the airport, got there @ 540 for my 610 flight that didnt actually take off until after 10pm. ATL was a huge clusterfuck and my 825pm flight to Newark didnt leave until 1am I hate flying in the spring. You would think "1am isnt TOO bad" but after a failed communication with a cabbie, ATM issues, etc, I didnt get to my hotel room until 440am...

Mon & Tues I was at corp offices for what can only be defined as a whine fest - everyone venting their frustrations. During my eval I finally started feeling better about myself. After a long layover & 3 tequila shots to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, I felt even better

Now it's back to the grind, just passing time until lunch hour is over - which it now is. Hope the rest of the week is productive. And that I can finally get rested...

April in Review 2

Personally I closed LHC Group at the end of March for the 1st Quarter, and nothing since.

I was in the Bay area in FL, and met up with my folks to visit Uncle Lou on the 9th - Dad got a new bull, too.

The week following Easter I was miraculously home, til Thursday evening. After a Friday meeting in Asheville, I went to the farm for a working weekend. Steph surprised the folks earlier that week and so we fixed fence, cleaned stalls, wrangled Octavia (read "PAIN!!!" ), rode our horses, and drank w/ my parents - a great weekend

The week of April 20th I was in LA Monday thru Wed, 6 meetings, but missed my connection home so spent the night in a hotel and got home Thursday for 2 web demos. That Thursday we also had the house pressure washed - looks much better

The last week in April I was in ATL, Mobile, rural AL, and Columbus, GA. To kick off May, Jim & I jumped in the car with Ellie and went to ATL: me to visit/drink w/ K&L, Adam joined Jim for a rain-delayed Braves game (the only one they won that weekend). Sat we headed to Chatt where I watched the Kentucky Derby, then went to see WOLVERINE - very entertaining :-p That night was deja vu: Guitar Hero @ Adam's, the guys drinking and me sleeping Sunday we witnessed Will graduate (AT) and then I spent a horrific 12hrs trying to get to Jersey for "mediocre sales meeting"

Will try to post more later - lots of books to update on here

April in Review

Where or where have our weekly updates gone? I miss hearing from everyone, yet I am guilty as well. I don’t think there were any in April L I have often drafted one in my head while driving, but then it’s gone when I get home EOW… I wish I had some kind of dictating program that I could talk to and share my musings during the down-time of night driving…

So the last few weeks have been busy, getting my 8 new meetings but also trying to get my face in front of those I haven’t seen since I started this territory June of 2008; last week I went to NOLA and had 6 FUP in three days. Many of my contacts have just been putting me off for review “next month.” 3 of them were of the “small/rural” variety, but I felt those were better meetings. I haven’t had the high number of cancellations, like Todd referred to last month, but I have had meetings cut shorter than the originally agreed upon hour. I feel like my pipeline is healthy on my end, if the prospects would only close when they say they will… Most hospitals have been put on a spending freeze, claiming they have to be able to pay their bills (puh-leaze! Skip a drink & buy MT J). I’ve been explaining Ray’s CRCA tool, but most claim that they’re already paying folks’ salaries and they don’t fully grasp that their employees could be doing something more productive with their time than data entry in an Excel spreadsheet… I was in a conference room at a rural hospital, after being told they couldn’t afford our monthly fee, where there were drinks, gourmet food & chocolate trays, and wrapped “gifts” being stacked on a side table for the upcoming board meeting – HELLO!?! I find it hard to believe they are truly cutting back on non-essentials… If I could draw, I would create a cartoon of a posh C-level meeting where they are determining where to cut costs: “the service agreement on the MRI doesn’t need renewed, we’ll just use it until it dies or kills someone” – “the janitor can become a night-time PTE, the nurses can take care of any problems during the day” – “let’s make it more efficient for our assistants to find things by adding more file cabinets to their workspace – and an espresso machine on their desks so it’s fresh when we ask for coffee…” SERIOUSLY…

But alas I digress. I’m on the road every week, multitasking like a maniac when I can, listening to audiobooks on the longer trips. Some recent ones include: Audition: Memoirs by Barbara Walters, Animal Farm Inc – A business parable, and catching up on some fiction best-sellers. Even tho Lent is over, I’m still trying to avoid too much fast food – since the marathon I’m not nearly the workout-aholic. A good place to eat in Scott, LA is Fezzo’s – great local crawfish dishes J This week I was in Columbus and had lunch at Loco’s with Liza – a great perk of my territory!

I hope you all had a great weekend, & will see some of you soon! J

Week of Mar 16th

What a week! 1600 miles, 4 states, 1NP, 2FUP, and a client visit in 72hrs - oh, and a partridge in a pear tree Got home in time to jump in the cruiser with the husband and ride along with him, looking for drunk spring breakers as I type. A beautiful evening on the beach, watched the sunset earlier.

"News on the march" - Some forward progress in a few deals, one said they signed and dropped in the mail; I'll wait for delivery confirmation before I start celebrating I started mailing to Admins & CEOs after we got the Hoovers list, many of which are REALLY outdated - one admin assistant told me the man I was looking for had retired 15 years ago! I told her I was going from a list my dad gave me and she laughed, said to resend the info because it was probably tossed, and told me the current incumbent & best time to reach him.

Next week was looking bleak on Monday, but now I've got 4 NP, a FUP, & a CV scheduled I share the basketball fever, tho my Mocs are out. I've still got the Buckeyes, for now.

Have a relaxing weekend, all!

~CS
